Biostratigraphy and paleoenvironmental significance of Paleogene foraminiferal assemblages from Dashte Zari area in High Zagros, West Iran

چکیده
The Paleogene carbonate deposits of Pabdeh and Jahrum formations are widespread from the northwest (Dashte Zari area) to southwest Shahrekord region in High Zagros Mountains Iran record lateral upward transition open marine into shallow water environment. Formation shows a succession pelagic hemipelagic limestone, argillaceous chert. It consists planktonic wackestone, pellet-planktonic mudstone with foraminifera, radiolarian siliceous which accumulated within Foreland Basin. foraminifers assigned Late Paleocene–Late Eocene correspond subtropical tropical Zones P4b–E15. is represented by bioclast-bearing limestone calcarenite. benthic foraminiferal foraminiferal-red algal packstone, bioclast-intraclast packstone deposited platform inter-fingered upper part finally overlies it conformably during Bartonian–Priabonian. Shallowing off-lap relationships basin shrinking, while repeated inter-fingering signals moderate tectonic subsidence. Both disconformably covered Oligocene–Miocene Asmari Formation. Benthic foraminiferal turnover across the Cretaceous/ Paleogene boundary at Agost (southeastern Spain): paleoenvironmental inferences
We studied Upper Cretaceous and Lower Paleogene benthic foraminifera from the Agost section (southeastern Spain) to infer paleobathymetrical changes and paleoenvironmental turnover across the Cretaceous/Paleogene (K/P) transition. Benthic foraminifera indicate uppermost bathyal depths at Agost during the Abathomphalus mayaroensis Biochron (from about 400 kyr before the K/P boundary) through the...
متن کاملOverview of Eocene Planktonic Foraminiferal Taxonomy, Paleoecology, Phylogeny, and Biostratigraphy
This monograph has been compiled by members of the Paleogene Planktonic Foraminifera Working Group (hereafter referred to as the Working Group) of the International Subcommission on Paleogene Stratigraphy, International Union of Geological Sciences. It is the second such work in a projected series of three, the first being the Atlas of Paleocene Planktonic Foraminifera published by Smithsonian ...
متن کاملMiddle-Late Cambrian acritarchs from the Zardkuh area in the High Zagros Mountains, southern Iran: Stratigraphic and paleogeographic implications
The excellent preservation of the acritarchs, their great abundance, diversity and good stratigraphic control permit establishment of a detailed Middle and Late Cambrian acritarch biozonation. A total of 56 palynomorph species form the basis of 10 local acritarch assemblage zones. Assemblage zones I-II occur in the lower and middle parts of the Member C of the Mila Formation and suggest Early-m...
متن کاملBiostratigraphy and Paleoenvironmental Analyses of Pleistocene NJ Shelf Sediments
The long-term goal of this project is to understand the patterns and timing of latest Pleistocene sedimentation in the Geoclutter area of the NJ margin. Paleoenvironmental reconstructions of the study area were developed using benthic foraminifera and sediment texture analyses of drill cores obtained in Fall 2002 using the ACHC-800 from the RV Knorr. This award was extended through October 31, ...
